Disney Song of the Day : April 30th

Today's song is the music for the ride Soarin'; which is in the Land Pavilion at Walt Disney World's Epcot Center. Another new favorite ride for me. I got to ride this on my trip a few months ago for the first time and fell in love with it immediately.

Info on the song: "Both versions of the ride use the same orchestral score by composer Jerry Goldsmith, who is said to have come down from his first ride in tears. In addition to finding the ride visually beautiful and magical, he said that his father was a pilot who loved all things Californian. "I'd do anything to be part of this project," Goldsmith said. "I'd even score the film for free." The soundtrack he wrote plays throughout the entire attraction, starting with a crescendo in the low strings while the screen is still dark. Numerous variations of a serene theme for horn and strings can be heard, as well as several statements of a fanfare that accompanies the film's grandest vistas. The entire ride score can be found on recent Walt Disney World official albums, and the exit music is also played as part of a loop in the Disneyland Resort's and Epcot's entrance plazas."

Info on the ride: "The attraction, which lasts about four minutes and 51 seconds, takes 87 guests at a time on a simulated hang glider tour of California, flying over the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Redwood Creek in Humboldt County, Napa Valley, Monterey, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite National Park (including Yosemite Falls and Half Dome), the PGA West golf course in La Quinta (credited in the queue video presentation as Palm Springs), Camarillo, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, San Diego, Malibu, Los Angeles, and Disneyland itself during the Christmas season. The last few scenes transition from daytime to dusk and then to night, culminating in Disneyland's Holiday fireworks surrounding the riders in the nighttime sky. In addition to the state's various landscapes, the ride also highlights its diverse recreation, including snow skiing, river rafting, kayaking, golf, horseback riding, hot air ballooning and of course, hang gliding. The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74) at Naval Base San Diego are also featured. An original score by film composer Jerry Goldsmith accompanies the imagery, and appropriate scents (citrus, pine, sagebrush, ocean mist) fill the air as the ride vehicles themselves move gently to simulate the sensations of flight." ---- the orange trees are my favorite part!

Hope you enjoy this beautiful music :)

Disney Song of the Day: April 29th

With all of the terrible tragedies that have happened over the past few weeks (and year), this song fits well with how we WILL go on.
Today's song is "We Go On"; Part of "IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth", which can be seen at Walt Disney World's Epcot Center. I just watched IllumiNations for the first time just a few months ago. This is seriously the best show I have ever seen. The music is beautiful. The fireworks are incredible. An amazing story of our world.
"My goal was to remind people that our home planet is an amazing place. This show weaves the story of our planet, using mystical elements that signify unity and peace for all humankind." - Don Dorsey
It's definitely a must see if you are at Walt Disney World! You may want to have some tissues handy. And beware of goosebumps. ;)

Song performed by Kellie Coffey

With the stillness of the night
There comes a time to understand
To reach out and touch tomorrow
Take the future in our hand

We can see a new horizon
Built on all that we have done
And our dreams begin another
Thousand circles 'round the sun

We go on
To the joy and through the tears
We go on
To discover new frontiers
Moving on
With the current of the years
We go on
Moving forward, now as one
Moving on
With a spirit born to run
Ever on
With each rising sun
To a new day
We go on
We go on

Disney Song of the Day Intro

Hello friends! Hope you all had a great weekend. :)

As some of you may know, I started posting a "Disney Song of the Day" on my Facebook about a month or two ago. My good friend, Marc, is the one who suggested that I start a blog. That way I can share things like this with more people and it'll be easier to follow. I thought it was a pretty great idea. So here I am!

Starting tomorrow, I will start back up with my songs. Hopefully I can throw in some interesting facts about the music and movies in which they'll come from. The music won't be limited to just movies. I plan on sharing music from the parks, resorts and movies.

What is your favorite Disney song? Is it from a movie? The parks? Maybe a resort?
How often do you listen to Disney music?
If you're like me, it may be your entire playlist. ;)

I am not ashamed to listen to Disney music! It truly is some of the most fun, beautiful music I've heard. :)

I am excited to start this back up. I hope you take the time to listen to each and every song that I post. And if you have any recommendations or fun facts about any of the music, feel free to share in the comments!

Welcome!

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog about all things Disney! :)
There's so much to talk about in this intro, but I'll keep it short!

A quick summary of myself:
My name is Kim. I'm 24 years old. I am from Ohio. I work as an insurance processor for Wells Fargo.  Love Disney. Love Jesus. I play acoustic guitar on my church's worship team. I love to run. I ran my first half marathon at Walt Disney World in February of 2013 (which I will do a whole trip report on soon!). And I love to make people happy! :)

I have been a Disney fan for as long as I can remember. I started going to Walt Disney World since I was 6 or 7 years old. I'd say I've been about 6 separate times. Over the past year, my love for Disney has become more of an obsession. You can ask any of my friends...they know exactly what I'm talking about. ;)

I just wanted to start this blog mostly because I am pursuing my dream in becoming a Disney Cast Member. My goal is to get down there some time this year or next. And I will do absolutely everything it takes to make my dreams come true! Like Walt said, "Keep moving forward."

I will try my best to blog several times a week. In my blog, you will see things such as trip reports, Disney news, fun facts, music, podcast reviews, interviews and much, much more!

Thank you for taking your time to read this. I really excited about this blog!
Please feel free to comment at any time. I'll take any feedback or suggestions. :)

Thanks again!

Kim
