Disney Song of the Day : May 7th

We're still dreaming! Today's song is "When You Wish Upon a Star". I'm pretty sure everyone knows this song...even if they've never seen Pinocchio. :)

"When You Wish Upon a Star" is a song written by Leigh Harline and Ned Washington for Walt Disney's 1940 adaptation of Pinocchio. The original version was sung by Cliff Edwards in the character of Jiminy Cricket, and is heard over the opening credits and in the final scene of the film. The song has since become the representative song of The Walt Disney Company.

"When You Wish Upon a Star" along with Mickey Mouse has become an icon of The Walt Disney Company. In the 1950s and 1960s, Walt Disney used the song in the opening sequences of all the editions of the Walt Disney anthology television series. It has also been used to accompany the Walt Disney Pictures opening logos – including the present-day logo – since the 1980s. The ships of the Disney Cruise Line use the first seven notes of the song's melody as their horn signals. Additionally, many productions at Disney theme parks – particularly fireworks shows and parades – employ the song.

Disney Song of the Day: April 29th

With all of the terrible tragedies that have happened over the past few weeks (and year), this song fits well with how we WILL go on. Today's song is "We Go On"; Part of "IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth", which can be seen at Walt Disney World's Epcot Center. I just watched IllumiNations for the first time just a few months ago. This is seriously the best show I have ever seen. The music is beautiful. The fireworks are incredible. An amazing story of our world.  "My goal was to remind people that our home planet is an amazing place. This show weaves the story of our planet, using mystical elements that signify unity and peace for all humankind." - Don Dorsey  It's definitely a must see if you are at Walt Disney World! You may want to have some tissues handy. And beware of goosebumps. ;) _____________________________________________________________ Music score composed, produced, and conducted by Gavin Greenaway “We Go On” Illuminations Lyrics by Don Dorsey (c)1999 by Walt Disney Music Co. Song performed by Kellie Coffey With the stillness of the night There comes a time to understand To reach out and touch tomorrow Take the future in our hand We can see a new horizon Built on all that we have done And our dreams begin another Thousand circles 'round the sun We go on To the joy and through the tears We go on To discover new frontiers Moving on With the current of the years We go on Moving forward, now as one Moving on With a spirit born to run Ever on With each rising sun To a new day We go on We go on
