Mickey Miles Podcast : A Podcast About All Things runDisney

First of all, let me say that EVERYONE should do a runDisney event at some point in their lives. It's seriously the most fun you could ever have while exercising. :)

With that being said, a great way to get yourself motivated is by listening to the Mickey Miles Podcast with Michelle Scribner-Maclean and Mike Scopa! This podcast started back in September of 2012, which couldn't have come out at a better time! I signed up for the Princess Half Marathon in September. About a few weeks later, I was searching for running podcasts and came across the very first episode. I was so excited!

The Mickey Miles Podcast is focused on all things runDisney. Anywhere from 5K family fun runs to full marathons. They will present the latest in runDisney news and give you the rundown on upcoming runDisney events. One of the things that has helped me tremendously in my training was the listener question based shows. Mike and Michelle have so much running experience and know how to answer pretty much any sort of running question you could think of. They've been through it all. :)

Thanks to this amazing podcast, I was able to train well and hard for my first ever half marathon, which just so happened to be a Disney race! I am so blessed to have come across this show.

I had the honor to hang out with both Mike and Michelle during the Princess Half Marathon weekend! They are great people. Very welcoming and kind. I felt like I've known them my whole life. We spent the morning together cheering on everyone at the 5K. I also met up with them at the Coronado Springs Resort where we had a lovely lunch. :) The following pictures are from the Royal Family 5K on Saturday, February 23, 2013.

Michelle was so kind in to asking me to be a part of a few episodes talking about the Princess Half Marathon. Both before and after!

Please take a listen to these shows :)

There's also a silly little interview that Mike did during the 5K. You can check that out here!

Love, love, love Mike and Michelle! Please check out their amazing new website, http://www.mickeymilespodcast.com/ and subscribe to them on iTunes!

Oh, and get yourself to one of the MANY runDisney events!

Get off the couch! :D

Be Our Guest Podcast Indy Meet Up

The Be Our Guest Podcast crew had a wonderful meet up on May 11th in the Indianapolis area. We met at Ben and Ari's in Fishers, Indiana. It was a great turn out! We had around 20 people show up. Lots of fun talks. A few of us played a round of miniature golf. And some of the kids (and myself) ;) played the arcade games!

Along with this meet up, we raised $250 for Give Kids the World Village!!! This is so incredible! I am blown away by the generosity of our friends. We are going to help make magic for so many families.

Disney Song of the Day : May 7th

We're still dreaming! Today's song is "When You Wish Upon a Star". I'm pretty sure everyone knows this song...even if they've never seen Pinocchio. :)

"When You Wish Upon a Star" is a song written by Leigh Harline and Ned Washington for Walt Disney's 1940 adaptation of Pinocchio. The original version was sung by Cliff Edwards in the character of Jiminy Cricket, and is heard over the opening credits and in the final scene of the film. The song has since become the representative song of The Walt Disney Company.

"When You Wish Upon a Star" along with Mickey Mouse has become an icon of The Walt Disney Company. In the 1950s and 1960s, Walt Disney used the song in the opening sequences of all the editions of the Walt Disney anthology television series. It has also been used to accompany the Walt Disney Pictures opening logos – including the present-day logo – since the 1980s. The ships of the Disney Cruise Line use the first seven notes of the song's melody as their horn signals. Additionally, many productions at Disney theme parks – particularly fireworks shows and parades – employ the song.

Magical Mouse Radio

One of my most favorite things about Disney has to be the music. It's incredible how a song can take you back to a certain time or place. Even bringing you to other senses, such as tastes or smells.

A radio station I listen to regularly is called Magical Mouse Radio. My good friend, Mike Rahlmann from the Be Our Guest Podcast, is the creator of this amazing station. On it, you can hear everything from on-ride audio, background loops, songs from shows, movies and much, much more!

Here is a schedule of what you can expect to hear :)

  • Monday - Magic Kingdom  (9am - 12am EST)
  • Tuesday - Background Loop Tuesday. This is the most popular day! :) (Midnight - 10:00 PM EST)
  • Wednesday - World Showcase (9am - 12am EST), Animal Kingdom (1pm - 3pm)
  • Thursday - Retro Thursday (9am - 12am EST)
  • Friday - One of my favorites... Future World Friday! (9am - 12am EST)
  • Saturday - Morning in the Studios (10am - 1pm), Animal Kingdom (1pm - 3pm)
  • Sunday - Attractions Alley (10am - 1pm)
  • Kiss Goodnight - Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday (9pm - 10:30pm)
Please check out this radio station and support one of my favorite people! :)

This station is so much fun! :)

Disney Song of the Day : May 6th

This week will be the week of dreams :)

Pursuing the dream to work at Walt Disney World.
This song keeps me going.

"Go the Distance" from Hercules. Another favorite.

Disney Song of the Day : May 3rd

Not much info about today's song. I came across it while listening to the DisneyBlu podcast. DJ Steve Porter does a mix up of several different fan videos. Love it!

Disney Song a Day : May 2

Today's song is "Belle" from Beauty and the Beast. :) If you've never seen the movie, stop what you're doing and watch it! It's one of my absolute favorites! I love the movie, the songs, the characters. Everything!

The song is composed by Alan Menken; lyrics by Howard Ashman; sung by Paige O'Hara.

The lyrics to this song gives you an idea of what everyone thinks of Belle and also gives you part of the plot before you really get into the movie. Try to pay attention. :)

Such a fun song! I hope you enjoy today's pick.

(Don't mind the grammatical errors on this person's YouTube video. This was the best version I could find! Haha.)

Disney Song of the Day : May 1

Happy May Day!

It's finally beginning to stay warm outside. The flowers are blooming. Time for more outdoor activities. :)
I love Spring! I could stick with 75 degree weather all year long!

Today's Disney song is one of my absolute favorites. One that always puts a smile on my face and makes me want to dance. And it's from one of my favorite movies, Mary Poppins!

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

The song is written by the Sherman Brothers; sung by Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.

The roots of the words are as follows: super- "above", cali- "beauty", fragilistic- "delicate", expiali- "to atone", and docious- "educable", with the sum of these parts signifying roughly "Atoning for educability through delicate beauty." And, it's just something to say when you don't have anything else to say. :)

 Have a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious day!
